Competitive market benefiting local executive transition firm
Toronto, Ont. – November 19, 2007 – The career transition market is a mature one and many firms are continually looking for ways to trim costs. But these competitive pressures are actually helping the one local company, whose Executive Practice specializes in senior level transition.
Tim Arnill, President and Chief Executive Officer of Verity International, says his firm’s Executive Practice for senior level clients in career transition is experiencing record revenues this year. The firm’s Executive Practice revenue has doubled since last year, in part, because some of its competitors are scaling down.
“Ours is a very mature market and quite competitive.” Arnill said. “We keep hearing about the traditional, big name firms finding new ways to cut costs. We believe that there is still a need for top quality career services, especially those designed for executives. They want another executive as an advisor – someone who has been in their shoes. That’s the only way they will get the counsel they need. And for us, it’s working.” Arnill said.
Verity’s Chairman, Paul Bates, the Dean of the DeGroote School of Business at MacMaster University, said: “As a shareholder, it can be a bit disconcerting that we have chosen a higher cost model than others in the industry, but as the Chairman, I am proud of it. This is a people business. It only makes sense to have the best working for us.”
To keep pace with its growth, Verity recently hired Sandra Fowler, to offer career advisory services to executives in transition. Sandra is well-known as a former senior consultant and partner in global executive search firms Caldwell Partners, A.T. Kearney and Boyden International. Fowler said executives are sophisticated in their job search and require advice and coaching that is very specific to their situation.
“Our clients are business leaders. They are strategic by nature, and are looking at the next level in their career. My role is to help them get there,” she said.
Fowler said executives in transition face different challenges in job search compared to other organizational managers. These challenges include:
- Skills/Experience - how to transfer their leadership skills to other growing industries.
- Career Path - how to launch their own business, become a consultant or join a corporate board.
- Research - how to acquire accurate information quickly about companies and industries, and how to identify small or mid-market company opportunities.
- Marketing - how to differentiate and market themselves effectively to contact the right people.
“The key to success for these clients is to focus clearly on what they want, get their documentation and messaging together, and meet the right people.” said Fowler. “This is what we do exceptionally well. And our reputation for success is spreading. It’s exciting!”
Verity’s Executive Practice is focused solely on the unique career goals and transitional needs of CEOs, Senior Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents of organizations. The firm offers a customized suite of specialized transition solutions that blends executive coaching, technology, global networks and resources to help executive leaders navigate personal transition and prepare for the challenges of a competitive career search.
Verity International is a Human Resources consulting firm specializing in three practice areas: Career Management & Transition, Executive Advisory Services and Talent & Organizational Consulting. The firm has three offices in the Greater Toronto Area, and is a founding member of Verity Filion Inc., a national partnership with offices in 12 cities across Canada.
